Your Home at Marshall
Overview
Nothing beats Living On Campus — you’re next door to everything & everyone.
Roll out of bed. Walk to class. Lunch with friends. Quick nap. Afternoon lecture. Sunset surfing at the beach. Study session with suitemates. Gym for a workout. Movie night in the lounge.
This is everyday life when you make Marshall College Residence Halls and Apartments your home (check out these photos!)
Most students choose to live in the residence halls their first year; many return for subsequent years. Research shows that students who live on campus get more out of their college experience. Residents enjoy resources designed to make their transition into college smooth. They also meet people from all walks of life.
First-year students live in the Marshall residence halls. Single, double, or triple rooms are arranged in suites. Each suite has a bathroom, living area, and patio/balcony. Some first-years are assigned to our apartment community, pending space.
(Due to space limitations, each year, some Marshall Frosh are overflowed into other colleges - if this is the case for you, please refer to your area of residence for details about the residential buildings)
Second-year (and above) students live in the Marshall Apartments. Upper apartments are located next to Marshall Field. All apartments are fully furnished and have a kitchen, bathroom, living room, and 3 bedrooms (singles, doubles, or triples).
Here are some sample building layouts and floor plans. See the menu for more details about each community!

Gender Inclusive Housing (GIH)
Gender Inclusive Housing (GIH) is available for undergraduate residents living on-campus at UC San Diego.
Below are some Gender Inclusive Housing FAQs; Please feel free to contact our office at 858-534-4340 or tmreslife@ucsd.edu if you have questions about GIH housing.
Is Gender Inclusive Housing new?
Gender-inclusive housing has been an option available for continuing students for several years. Gender Inclusive Housing allows students (with a housing guarantee) of ALL gender identifications to live together in apartments. Each year, the process and options are expanded to accommodate folks- and that is what is NEW and EXCITING!
What does Gender Inclusive Housing mean?
This means that ALL gender identities can live together in an apartment AND within a shared bedroom.
I don’t know if Gender Inclusive Housing is for me. How do I decide?
Many of you have already had mixed-gendered living experiences growing up. We encourage you to reflect upon those experiences also to help inform your decision. Consider speaking with your RA to explore if the Gender Inclusive Housing option is right for you.
We encourage ALL students who embody an inclusive mindset around all gender identities and would benefit from living amongst all genders to consider selecting the Gender Inclusive Housing option.
How do I sign up?
Each individual must apply AND complete the Housing Application online during the designated housing application period through the Room Selection Website (see below). You must indicate interest in the Gender Inclusive Housing option.
Can I live in any College/Area in Gender Inclusive Housing?
Applications will be restricted to your college of registration for placement, and you must have a housing guarantee. This housing option is ONLY available to groups of students from the same college.
Where will Gender Inclusive Housing be located at Marshall?
Marshall College typically officers our two housing types/locations for Gender Inclusive Housing, Upper Apartments, and Residential Halls.
What if I am a first year assigned to another living area this year (i.e. Revelle (Marvelles Marshall students at Revelle), the Village and LLC’s at other Colleges).
This option IS available to ALL eligible Marshall students, even if you are living at another location as a current Frosh.
Where can I learn more
Stay tuned for more info via informational sessions, opportunities for dialogue, and posted information throughout the process. Our primary goal is for you to get your Housing Application submitted while paying close attention to meeting ALL deadlines associated with opting in and submitting your completed application. If you are looking for more information you can also find additional resources on the HDH website regarding GIH and LLC's.
I think I am ready to sign up! What do I do next?
